FOUNDED BY ITV, the Workshop began it's life in 1985 offering weekly sessions training the acting skills required to work in radio, TV, theatre and film. It has gone from strength to strength since those humble beginnings and has made numerous documentaries and programmes for ITV starring workshop members, put on hugely successful theatrical productions (that have toured the Czech Republic and America as well as a Shakespeare Festival in Canada) produced short films and entered them into film competitions (we haven't won any yet - but that won't stop us!) and have had members cast in in everything from Skins to Harry Potter! Now, as the West Acting Workshop we intend to continue in this vein and keep those amazing experiences and opportunities available for our members.
We even managed to persuade Oscar winner Dame Emma Thompson to be our Patron and she is incredibly supportive of what we do!
Our weekly sessions are fun and informal, but we take acting seriously and specialise in training Acting to Camera techniques (but don't worry, we tackle theatre too!) We will teach you everything you need to know to hone your skills as an actor. We are not here to make you famous, we are here to make you great at what you do - act!

ABOUT US "Established in 1985, ITV WEST Television Workshop was a resource offering experience for young people, from the age of 5 upwards, in the performance and production skills required for TV, FILM, THEATRE and RADIO. From December 2017 we moved away from ITV and went fully independent and became the West Acting Workshop - but still offers everything we did under ITV!!
We operate as a casting resource for producers locally, nationally and internationally. Workshop members have auditioned for and appeared in : FILMS (including HARRY POTTER , CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY and PENELOPE); TV (for a wide variety of ITV1 shows, CITV's THE GIBLET BOYS, Channel 4's SERVANTS and TEACHERS, BBC's CASUALTY, LITTLE BRITAIN and ROCKET MAN many more) and a wide range of RADIO, THEATRE, COMMERCIALS and MUSIC VIDEOS.
Based in the theatre at Colston's Girls' School, Gloucester Road, Bristol - we offer regular weekly sessions for those interested in acting on stage and in front of a camera, with workshops covering everything from Shakespeare to generating screen presence.
We regularly produce short films and live shows to provide practical experience. We provide the training, so you do not require any past experience or qualifications. Anyone, from 9 YEARS OLD UPWARDS, can join.
All we require is your time, imagination, energy and commitment. So, whether you're interested in performing or working behind the scenes - the WEST ACTING WORKSHOP IS FOR YOU!"
